Power Inverter is Bidirectional: 08/02/01 EDN Design Ideas / (added 12/04) If you want to swap charge in
either direction between unevenly loaded positive and negative battery buses, you need an inverting dc transformer. One implementation is the symmetrical flyback converter shown in Figure 1.
The circuit can generate a negative output from a positive supply or a positive output from a negative supply.... |

Simple Car Battery Charger #2: This very simple circuit uses a transformer ,two diodes , a capacitor and an ammeter.
To charge a battery just connect the + and terminals of the circuit to the corresponding terminals of the battery. When the battery is not charged, the ammeter reading shows 1-3 amps.
When the battery is fully charged the ammeter reads Zero or nearly zero,... (added 6/06) |

Simple Circuit Charges Lead Acid Batteries: 02/03/97 EDN Design Ideas / (added 5/02)
02/03/97 EDN Design Ideas / (added 5/02) The circuit in Figure 1
charges lead-acid batteries in the conventional way: A current-limited
power supply maintains a constant voltage across the battery (2.4V/cell
or so, as specified by the battery manufacturer) until the charging
current decreases below a certain level (also specified by the
manufacturer but typically 0.01C). Normally, C represents the battery's
capacity in coulombs. However, in this context, C is a rate in coulombs
per second (amperes) that is numerically equal to C.... |

Single Cell Sealed Lead Acid Charger: This charger is only meant for single cells of the lead/acid variety. It can be used
for cells with a capacity of up to around 10Ah if R1 is changed accordingly. SLAs should be charged with a current of from 10% to 30% of their rated capacity (in Ah or mAh) (added 2/06) |
