AC Switching with TRIAC From TTL - The MC3032 is an optoisolator TRIAC
driver. The 180-ohm resistor sets the current for the LED emitter in the
optoisolator. Change the value of this resistor - if necessary - to get
reasonable current (e.g., 15 mA). Note that you cannot test this circuit without
a load. The TRIAC will not switch unless connected to an AC voltage source, so
you can't test it for simple switching w/o applying AC and a load. Note the 500V
rating on the .01 cap....(ASCII design added 4/03) |

Access odd memory locations without hardware - 05/27/99 EDN-Design
Ideas Some risc controllers, like the NEC V850 family, use an internal
32-bit architecture with an external 16-bit bus. The architecture also allows
interfaces with 8-bit memories. However…PDF has several circuits, please scroll
to find this one…. [Design Idea by Sorin Zarnescu, NEC Electronics, Santa Clara,

Active-pullup/pulldown network saves watts - 17-Feb-05 Issue of EDN
The control circuit in Figure 1 presents a relatively low input resistance and
thus imposes a low value on external pulldown resistor R1 to provide the desired
low-level input voltage. In turn, R1 wastes power by drawing a relatively high
current through switch S1. For example, suppose that the control circuit
presents an input resistance of 2.... [Design Idea by JB Guiot, DCS Dental AG,

ADC interface conditions high level signals - 30-Oct-03 Issue of EDN
Designers who build equipment for the industrial market share a widespread
problem. At one extreme, they must build equipment that supports ±10V bipolar
voltages, often riding on a high common-mode level, a requirement enforced by 30
years of legacy industrial equipment. At the other extreme, the analog signal
needs conditioning to match the full-scale range of a low-voltage,
single-supply.... [Design Idea by Moshe Gerstenhaber and Stephen Lee, Analog
Devices, Wilmington, MA] |
