Microcontroller provides timer function - 01/04/01 EDN-Design
Ideas....The circuit in Figure 1 is a µC-based programmable timer with two
output channels. The first channel, activated by pressing the red switch,
S3, has a red LED at its output.....[Design Idea by Tito Smailagich, ENIC,
Belgrade, Yugoslavia] |

Microcontroller selects minimum/maximum value - 20-Sep-01 Issue of
EDN Microcontroller-based systems for measurement, sensor-data
processing, or control, sometimes require you to determine a maximum or
minimum data value. For example, in an object-detection system,...[Design

Microcontroller serial port measures pulse width 07/15/10 Issue of EDN
Many industrial and instrumentation systems need to measure the duration of
pulse inputs, such as frequency from rotational-speed sensors, gating and
strobe pulses from external systems, and PWM (pulse-width-modulated)
inputs..…. [Design Idea by Vishwas Vaidya, Tata Motors Ltd, Pune, India] |

MicroController Visualizes Hex Code - 04/27/00 EDN-Design Ideas....In C
systems, information exchanges usually use the hexadecimal 1-2-4-8 format; output data
also appear in this format. Reading the hex code is not a problem; several LEDs
connected to the output lines can display the answer. The problem arises when you

Microprocessor RS-232 Reset - This circuit allows a remote microprocessor to
be reset by a controlling host over a remote RS-232 or similar protocol serial line.
With the use of a program loader on the remote host, a program may be downloaded and
run. This allows a target processor to run different code in RAM, thus getting
rid of the need to burn multiple EPROMs. The circuit is usually used for developing
code on a target processor, but it can also be used for permanent applications where
the target program lives on a host system's disk....[G. Forrest Cook] |
