Signals Produce Pure Sine Waves - 10/09/97 EDN-Design Ideas.... Analog
oscillators produce excellent sine waves but are temperamental and hard to design.
They also require extensive redesign every time you change the oscillation frequency.
Digital oscillators are easier to design than analog oscillators, and digital signals
already exist in digital systems. Thus, it is often cost-effective.... [Design Idea by

Simple 1.5V Square Wave Generator - This simple circuit generates a good and
stable 1V peak-to-peak square wave at 100Hz, 1KHz and 10KHz using a single 1.5V cell
as power supply. An useful feature of this circuit is that frequency changes can be
obtained by switching only one capacitor at a time. Current consumption is about
600µA. * If a precise 50% duty-cycle is needed, trim R1 and monitor the output wave
form by means of an oscilloscope. * A good 500mV peak-to-peak square wave is provided
even at 1V supply. ….(electronic schematic added 11/08) |

Simple Circuit Generates Clean Sine Waves - 06/19/97 EDN-Design
Ideas....Generating a square wave at a particular frequency is fairly simple. Many
techniques for doing so exist, using counters, flip-flops, and--everyone's
favorite--the venerable 555 timer. Generating a sine wave, however, is not nearly as
simple or inexpensive. Figure 1 shows a technique for generating a high-quality sine
wave from a square-wave source.... [Design Idea by Med Dyer, Jabra Corp, San Diego,

Sine wave step up converter uses Class E concept - 17-Feb-05 Issue of EDN
Many power applications ranging from luminescent and fluorescent lighting to

isn't especially critical. However, avoiding waveform discontinuities that cause
unwanted current peaks, excessive device dissipation, and EMC.... [Design Idea by

duty cycle. Also, the amplitude of the pulses had to be adjustable.... [Design Idea by
