| As my wife can attest, maintaining the 5 websites has been a full time job.
The DC site requires the most attention. It has taken us 6 years to develop it to what it is today. It takes a lot of time to find and
categorize over 20,000 schematics and thousands more links to component manufacturers and distributors. Websites come and go all the time,
so it is a constant battle keeping up with the broken links. Unfortunately all or portions of DiscoverCircuits has been copied
(stolen) by a few foreign websites who have claimed the material as their own. |
| In January of 2005 we placed targeted ads on our other websites. Later
in October we added these ads to DiscoverCircuits. This move has proven somewhat successful for us. It provides some income, but certainly
not enough to live on. When our contract ends in November, 2006, with Penton Media, we will begin selling ads ourselves that are more
appropriate to the DC audience. These ads will generate more income. |
| The DC forum is slowly growing. I wish it were more popular but the traffic
to the DC forum is at par with many other forums focusing on electronics. So far, the forum only generates about 2% of the total traffic to the
website. I’m sure there are many people who are frustrated by the lack of answers to their questions posted on the forum. I do my best
but I just don’t have time to devote several hours each day answering questions that go unanswered for days. |
