| Flashing Fluorescent Lamps -- I
picked up a small contract to work out methods to flash some standard fluorescent lamps up to 150 times per second. The lamps will be used
with custom cameras for recording information used in animated movies. I’ve been told that their cameras have been used on many Hollywood
blockbusters. |
| Capacitance Touch Switch Array -- I
designed a circuit which would be used to detect human touch on a large number of metal plates. These are often used in museums and hands-on
exhibits. I designed a modular system which could support up to 50 switches. |
| Optical Ethernet -- I had several
people request that I finish work on the development of an inexpensive optical Ethernet. A range of a few miles at a data rate of 10M bits
per second would be the goal, using off-the-shelf components and a visible red laser pointer. I think I have a good front-end receiver
circuit worked out. The only thing that will take some time is the packaging of the system. It needs to be mounted onto a rigid
platform, so wind sway would not be a problem. |
