Another Copycat Circuit Website
      #11044 - Wed Jun 10 2009 07:47 AM

Discover Circuits was launched in 2002. Before that, I posted hundreds of circuits on my original website: Imagineeringezine.com. Because electronics is both my hobby and profession, I wanted to create a site that highlighted not only my circuits but those of others. As a result, we were one of the first sites which offered an assortment of electronic circuits, organized into a wide variety of categories.

It has taken 1000s of hours of effort to get where we are today. Over the last few years, countless other sites containing circuit collections have been popping up. Several of these sites have literally stolen everything on DiscoverCircuits.com. They have not only copied our lists of links but have also copied our circuits and posted them directly on their websites. Most of these sites originate in India.

A frequent visitor to Discover Circuits has pointed out yet another website, which has copied some of my circuits. The site www.circuitstoday.com is a classic example. It appears that the same material is also posted on www.elecfree.com. As usual there is no contact information. The site owner has taken several circuits from Discover Circuits, made a few changes, rewrote the circuit description a bit and then called it their circuit. In many cases their design versions contained so many gross errors that the circuit is left nonfunctioning. Other circuits used inferior components, so instead of the circuit operating for years on battery power, they would only last a few weeks. The website www.makecircuits.com is an example of a site which ripped off most of my circuits and posted on their site. It seems that copy right laws are thrown out the window in countries like China and India.
