Tube Amplifier: The unit is powered
directly from the 120 volt AC line, with no power transformers. Filaments are wired in series, with the total adding up to 117 volts (35 + 35 + 35 + 12). The 35W4 forms a half-wave
rectifier, which is filtered by a three-stage RC network. The B+ for the output stage plates and screens are taken from the second capacitor, and the B+ for the preamp and phase inverter
from the third capacitor in the filter. |

Ultra-Low Quiescent Current AF Power Amplifier: This is an
audio power amplifier, similar to what is common in transistor radios and other portable audio equipment. This circuit however, has an ultra-low quiescent current of about 250uA, due to a
unique bias circuit. I don’t even know of a chip that does that. This circuit also has much higher open-loop gain, due to the bootstrap effect that the circuit provides as a by-product of
its operation. Designed by Andrew R. Morris. (added 09/05) |

Ultrasonic Switch:
Circuit of a new type of remote control switch is described here. This circuit functions with inaudible (ultrasonic) sound. Sound of frequency up to 20 kHz is audible to human beings. The
sound of frequency above 20 kHz is called ultrasonic sound. The circuit described generates (transmits) ultrasonic sound of frequency between 40 and 50 kHz. As with…. (added 10/05) |

Use Amplifier Phono Input as Line Level Input: Inverse RIAA Filter:
The circuit does two functions: signal level attenuation and inverse RIAA filtering. The signal attenuation is needed to convert the 500 mV signal to 2.5 mV signal. The inverse-RIAA
filtering is needed to make the frequency response of the system flat (same equalization that is used when music is transferred to vinyl in the studio). The picture blow shows the
frequency response of the ideal inverse-RIAA filter (added 11/05) |
