Easy Parametric & Graphic Eq's Plus Peaks & Notches -  If you're into playing with tone controls and notch filters to see how they change the sound out of your effects, you will undoubtedly have built several glops of R's, C's and pots, maybe some L's to make up the tone networks.  While this is fun, it's not very flexible.  Sooner or later you might wonder if there is a more general solution to messing with tone controls.   __ Designed by © 1999 R.G. Keen

EL wire eye candy The 8-channel sequencer will switch the wires according to programmed patterns.  It uses a Basic Stamp II microprocessor.  The Mikey Sklar's el pants & bag and Greg Sohlberg's Rhino-8 sequencer.  I used the Basic Stamp II for the processor, and went with Greg's suggestion & used a 9-pin connector, with 8 HV outputs and one "common", instead of individual 2-pin connectors for each of the 8 EL wire channels.   __ Designed by guerroloco

Electric Curtains Control -  This hybrid circuit uses a mixture of transistors, an IC and a relay and is used to automatically open or close a pair of curtains.  Using switch S3 also allows manual control, allowing for curtains to be left only partially open or closed.  The circuit controls a motor which is attached to a simple pulley mechanism, to move the curtains.  I first started this circuit over 20 __ Designed by Andy Collison

Electronic candle -  This  circuit  will  detect  light  falling  on  the  Light Dependent Resistor (LDR or CdS).   When light falls on the  LDR  the  arrangement  of  resistors  at  the  base  of  the transistor T1 gives a change of voltage.   This biases or turns  on  the  transistor  which  turns  on  T2,  allowing sufficient  current  to  flow  to light the globe.   The arrangement of the  resistors at the base of T1 is called a Potential Divider.   It is adjusted to suit ambient light conditions by the variable resistor VR1.   A typical use would be to set the project up in the refrigerator.  The light will light up in another room if you have enough wire, or you  could put  a  buzzer  in  instead  of the light and catch whoever is raiding the refrigerator.__ CdS Electronic

Electronic Compass Controller -  Several Projects, scroll down.  Eventually we all want to know just where our robot is, so we can choose an absolute direction.  Usually this type of device is quite expensive.  However to our rescue comes Dinsmore with low-cost electronic compass module.  It outputs the four cardinal points and combinations thereof that will give eight directions.  I decided that combining this with tilt sensors (the Dinsmore compass will only work if not tilted more than 12 degrees) would be a cool project.  I am using a PIC 12C508 to do the dirty work and return an 8 bit number with the directional and tilt data all included____ Designed by Dennis Clark

Electronic Door Release -  The IC is a quad 2 input "AND" gate, a CMOS 4081.  These gates only produce a HIGH output, when BOTH the inputs are HIGH.  When the key wired to 'E' is pressed, current through R1 and D1 switchs Q5 on.  The relay energises; and Q5 is 'latched on' by R8.  Thus, the Alarm is set by pressing a single key, say one of the two non-numeric symbols __ Designed by Ron J.

Eliminate thermoelectric EMF in low-ohm measurements -  06/13/02 EDN-Design Ideas When two different-metal conductors connect together in a loop and one of the junctions is at a higher temperature than the other, an electrical current flows through the loop.  The magnitude of this current depends on the type of metals involved and the temperature differential of the junctions.  When you open such a loop, a thermoelectric voltage appears across the open ends __ Circuit Design by John Wynne, Analog Devices, Limerick, Ireland

Eliminating Front-End Overload with RF AGC -  A Kenwood L-07TII I once owned had very high sensitivity on the bench. But with an outdoor antenna connected, it showed a fatal flaw: background noise on strong signals, and no hint of weak signals that other tuners received clearly. These symptoms suggested front-end overload. __ Designed by Brian Beezley K6STI

Emergency light flasher schematic -  If you elect to use an antenna tuner, it is extremely important that you understand exactly how to use tuners and what they can and cannot do.  A few watts of RF can easily become lost in an incorrectly adjusted antenna matching device.  The whole idea of a QRP station is to keep things simple and economical, so I cannot overemphasize the priority of a clean, efficient connection of the amplifier output to a resonant antenna.   __ Designed by Guy Roels ON6MU

Emergency Light with Charger -  White LEDs are replacing the conventional incandescent and fluorescent bulbs due to their high power efficiency and low operating voltage.  These can be utilised optimally for emergency lamp and vehicle turning...__ Electronics Projects for You

End of Train Flasher -  Schematic + Info + pictures __ Designed by Lennie Zink

Engine Control Unit Schematics -  The original plans for the ECU called for a very simple unit designed to keep the engine within parameters.  I was going to use a Basic Stamp 2, a pressure transducer, and a thermocouple.  As work progressed, I realized that greater functionality could be obtained with a proper tachometer, and the use of a faster, more capable, compiled Microchip controller.  I will leave these circuits posted, but the final ECU will make much greater use of the inherent capabilities of the PIC16F876, 28-pin microcontroller, especially for tasks like driving the pump and the glow plug.
