Versatile LED/Lamp Flasher -  The LM3909 was a legendary IC, which the designers  (National Semiconductor) modestly described as a "LED Flasher/Oscillator".  Its popularity was surely due both to its great simplicity and versatility.  It could flash a LED off a wide range of voltages, at a wide range of frequencies.  It could also flash LEDs in parallel, could produce a tone in a loudspeaker, trigger a TRIAC or pulse an incandescent bulbamong other things.  Sadly, though, the LM3909 has been discontinued and is now very difficult to find.__ SiliconChip

Versatile Micropower Battery Protector -  Protect your expensive batteries from discharge damage with this mini-sized electronic cutout switch.  It uses virtually no power and can be built to suit a wide range of battery voltages.__ SiliconChip

Versatile Special Function Timer -  This automatic timer has a wide range of applications whereby a timing cycle is initiated in response to a trigger signal.  There are quite a few uses for it in a car or you could use it on a model railway layout, in a home security system or whatever.__ SiliconChip

Very Basics Circuits -  This column is intended to be a place to find really basic information on subjects related to robotics and electronics.  If you have questions about the basics on these subjects, this column is for you.  I invite you to submit questions or information to this column __ Designed by Kevin Ross

Very Bright, Very Cheap Krypton Bike Light -  Be seen at night with this fantastically effective bike headlight.  Its cheap to build and can run from a variety of power supplies__ SiliconChip

Video Design Idea: Microcontroller drives 20 LEDs -  09/27/07  EDN-Design Ideas Details and demonstrates the use of "Charlieplexing" to drive 20 LEDs using six available I/O pins on an 8-pin microcontroller Design by Dhananjay V Gadre of the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India

Video Digitizer-MkI -  This frame grabber design digitises pictures to very high quality in monochrome  (8-bit black & white) . Although designed for the European standard 625-line / 50Hz TV system, it should work with the American 525-line / 60Hz standard with minimal modification. __ Designed by W.A. Steer  PhD

Video Digitizer-MkII -  A "video-digitiser"  (also known as a "frame grabber") captures television pictures from a TV set, camera, or video recorder, etc., and forwards them to a computer for display, storage, or general manipulation. This document describes a home-built digitiser which interfaces to an EPP  (or bi-directional) parallel port on IBM PCs. __ Designed by W.A. Steer  PhD

Video Enhancer & Y/C Separator  -  Sharpen the pictures from your video tapes with this great project.  It's just the shot when trandferring your tapes to DVD'S and it converts composite video to S- Video as well, to ensure a high quality transfer.__ SiliconChip

Video Genlock -  PIC Project  In many cases, especially for video overlay operations, it is necessary to synchronize a PIC to some external event  (such as horizontal sync pulses) .  This circuit uses only one extra parta D-type flip-flop  (such as a 74hc74) .  The pic is configured to run an external RC oscillator but the normal pull-up resistor is connected to the output of the 74hc74.  The external sync pulse sets Q high allowing the oscillator to run until the pic sets RA, 0.   __ Designed by Luhan Monat, Mesa, AZ

Video Motion Detection -  This device uses a PIC16F819 and an LM339 to detect motion on a video signal.  The incoming video is 'clamped' using one section of the LM339, the sync tips are detected with another section, and a 3rd section can detect VBI or other data.   __ Designed by Luhan Monat, Mesa, AZ

Video Processor -  Circuit Only __ Designed by Stephen Edwards

Video Reading Aid for Vision Imparied People -  It uses a small CMOS TV camera to produce enlarged positive or negative image with boosted contrast__ SiliconChip

Video switcher -  Monitoring several cameras on one monitor is usually done in one of two ways:  divide the screen into sections and show them all at once, or time sequence the cameras onto the whole screen.   __ Designed by Luhan Monat-Mesa Arizona

Video-Audio Booster for Home Theatre Systems -  Having problems with long cable runs? This unit can boost both composite and S-video signals, or even component video signals.  And it boosts stereo audio signals as well.__ SiliconChip

VideoSCope -  An easy-to-build combination Video Camera and Microscope!__ SiliconChip

Voice Synthesizer -  This system was designed to facilitate the development of a low cost speech module using a PIC and some EEPROM memory.  This has already been done  (see PICTalker) using 64k of memory.  So far, this device is working with only 11k of memory by using techniques discussed below __ Designed by Luhan Monat-Mesa Arizona

Voltage Interceptor for Cars with ECUs -  At one time, the sensors in cars with engine management were regarded as untouchable.  But now you can change the signal response of many of the sensors to improve your car's driveability, throttle response, handling and so on.  This voltage interceptor allows you modify and program the response of any voltage sensor in your car, without prejudicing reliability or affecting the ECU in any way.  Use it for restoring correct air/fuel ratios after engine modifications, preventing turbo boost cuts or altering sensor signals for improved driveability.__ SiliconChip

Voltage Regulator goes Digital -  11/24/99 EDN-Design Ideas Power consumption and failing batteries are key issues in battery-operated applications.  Features in the new generation of series voltage regulators address these concerns.  For example, National Semiconductor's LP2951 micropower voltage regulator provIdeas a logic-level output signal indicating a low regulated Design by Chuck Wojslaw, Xicor Inc, Milpitas, CA
