AC Current Test

With that
resistor I can easily get up to 20 Amps of current. So far, that has been high
enough for me. The shunt resistor allows me to use my multimeter to
accurately measure the AC voltage across the resistor, which is then
proportional to the AC current. In most of my tests, the AC current is a
loop. I might use the loop to calibrate a current transformer or test the
voltage drop through a power supply board. Although I don’t have a shunt
resistor large enough, this same method could be used to produce much higher AC
current. I have seen setups similar to mine which can produce over 1000
Amps of AC current. |
