Jared's Ride Isn't Fly But the Steering's Perfect:  So he always stays on course, Jared designed a mechatronic device that simulates perfect steering in an automobile. The small-scale, single-wheel model determines the speed of wheel rotation from the magnitude of the curve it's traveling….  Gadget Freak / Design News  (added 11/05)

LED Headlamps :  This article includes circuits of DC-DC LED drivers (click PICs for bigger ones) step downs to run LEDs on less than Battery Volts, Boost for above. (Electronic Schematic / circuit added 4/02)

Light Organ for Car:  flashes3 low voltage Light, operates at10-25-Volt voltage, in PDF format, text in Finnish (Circuit / schematic design added 6/06)

Monitor and Protect Automotive Systems with Integrated Current Sensing:  DN374 -  Design Notes (Linear Technology)  (added 1/06)

Monolithic Step-Down Regulator Withstands the Rigors of Automotive Environments and Consumes Only 100µA of Quiescent Current:  DN378 -  Design Notes (Linear Technology)  (Circuit / schematic design added 6/06)

Motorcycle Alarm 3:  This circuit features an intermittent siren output and automatic reset. It can be operated manually using a key-switch or a hidden switch; but it can also be wired to set itself automatically when you turn-off the ignition. By adding external relays you can immobilize the bike, flash the lights etc.
(added 10/05)

Motorcycle Alarm 4:  This is a simple - easy to build - transistor based motorcycle alarm. It's designed to work at 12-volts. But - if you change the relay for one with a 6-volt coil - it'll protect your "Classic Bike". The standby current is virtually zero - so it won't drain your battery. (added 10/05)

Motorcycle Alarms 5 and 6:  These are two - easy to build - relay-based alarms. You can use them to protect your motorcycle - but they have many more applications. If you use relays with 6-volt coils - they'll protect your "Classic Bike". Both alarms are very small. The completed boards occupy about half a cubic-inch - 8 cc. The standby current is zero - so they won't drain your battery....  (added 10/05)

Motorcyle Alarm 2 :  This circuit features an intermittent siren output and automatic reset. It can be operated manually using a key-switch or a hidden switch; but it can also be wired to set itself automatically when you turn-off the ignition. By adding external relays you can immobilize the bike, flash the lights etc. (added 10/05)

New CCFL Power Supply Expands Automotive Applications for Back Lit Liquid Crystal Displays:  MicroNote 1402 from Microsem  (Circuit / schematic design added 6/06)

Oxygen Sensors:  When they go bad your automobile runs poorly, learn about them and build a substitute for diagnostics or off-road use. (added 8/03)

Pulsing third Brake lite for cars:  (Electronic circuit added 4/05)

RD68HC908LHID : LIN-bus HID Lamp Levelling Stepper Motor Control using the Motorola 908E625:  This reference design describes a car High Intensity Discharge (HID) lamp leveling system with a LIN-bus interface. An essential part of the system is a stepper motor controller operating as a LIN-bus slave (LIN Stepper Controller). All functionality is provided by a general purpose LIN-bus IC MM908E625 and LIN Stepper software (HC08 software). The LIN Master consists of a master control board, based on an MC9S12DP256 CPU, and a personal computer with a graphical user interface (GUI), running in a master software environment.  (circuit design added 3/05)

RTOS vendors move to support automotive standard:  04/10/99 EDN-Design Ideas / (added 2/06)  [Note:  File contains multiple circuits.  Scroll to find this one.]  The Tornado for Automotive tool suite from Wind River (Picture) supports the OSEK automotive operating system initiative. Tornado includes MotorWorks, an OSEK-compliant RTOS that the company acquired through its partnership with German software house 3Soft, and a fully integrated tool suite. The OSEK automotive-industry initiative defines a scalable operating system for resource-limited systems. With an OSEK-compliant system, you can assemble the minimum OS kernel you need for simple functions such as those in car-body systems. The environment runs on Windows 95, 98, and NT and includes compilation, debugging, and OS-configuration tools. The configuration tool builds the kernel for an application and has the same application-programming interface and third-party-tool links as other Tornado family members....
