Circuits Designed by Dave Johnson, P.E. :

TV /VCR Remote Range Extender Circuit -  I often get frustrated by how poor some infrared remotes in many new electronic devices operate.  I used to be able to turn on the TV from 30 feet away.  Now, it seems that I have to get within 15 feet.  To address this issue, I designed the circuit shown below.  The circuit taps into the TV remote’s existing infrared LED and drives 8 more efficient devices.  The result is a communications range some 4 to 5 times longer.. . . Circuit by Dave Johnson P.E.-October, 2005

Video Signal Edge Enhancements -  I designed this circuit many years ago, based on the claims that the technique would improve the quality of standard TV images.  The circuit adds information to the edges of the objects and was reported to bring out more detail.  After building and testing. . . Vertical Blocking Oscillator Transformer Replacement -  Are you sick of unreliable blocking oscillator transformers and can never get good locking and linearity? Eliminate the nasty transformer forever with these circuits __ Contact blehack @ yahoo dot com

Vertical IC Configuration -  Various kinds of vertical out IC configuration.  Ac coupling -connect from the yoke deflection output to a coil connected directly.  Dc coupling – connected the output to the coil through a capacitor deflectioan yoke.  Electrolityc Capacitors (usually worth 1000u/35v).  This configuration requires two kinds of voltage (the voltage mirror plus-minus).  Dc input coupling using diffferential__

Vertical IC Pin-Out Data -  Vertical Vin = input (non-inverted) , Vout = Vertical output, VfB = Vertical feedback (inverted inpput) Vcc to pump-up can be traced through the diode PUM-up and pump up Elco Capacitor VfB = or to Vin2 = Gnd or Vcc (-) Vertical IC PIN-OUT DATA AN5521 Vin = 4, Vout = 2, Vcc = 7, Gnd__

VG to TV Converter -  There is serious lack of DOS and Windows driver for this circuit for most of currently available graphics cards.  The reason for this is the very fast changing graphics card product maket and lack of resources to develop drivers for each of them (even maker of some commercial operating systems have problems in keeping up the speed of change, so this is completely out of reach for a non-commercial few persons free time project). __ Designed by Tomi Engdahl

VGA Hardware Screen Blanker -  it is a simple device that connects between your keyboard and VGA card feature connector, and will blank (or blink) the screen after a certain amount of non-keyboard activity.  This device is totally software and O/S independent.  The ONLY screen blanker that can be guaranteed to work!  __ Designed by David L. Jones

VGA Switch -  Digital VGA switch for switching between two PC monitors with MAX465 IC __

VGA to PAL & NTSC Converter -  This is my VGA to TV circuit I have designed at 1996 for one one company I worked for.  Since this design is no longer in production and my agreement has ended, I ma free to publish the details on the web. __ Designed by Tomi Engdahl

VGA to RGB + composite sync-converter -  This article consists of one circuits which I have designed for connecting VGA card to other display devices than just a VGA monitor.  This circuits makes it possible to connect your VGA card to fixed frequency monitors and video projectors.  For some applications and system combinations some additional software is needed to get the system working __ Designed by Tomi Engdahl

VGA to SCART adapter -  XBMC is a cross platform Media Center Application with 10-foot Ui.  in this project we develop USB port base controller for XBMC application.  Main functionality of this controller unit is to provide remote control interface, LCD base player information panel and rotary encoder base controller for XBMC.  With this given hardware design and software programs, user may be able to control XBMC without using standard input devices such as keyboard and mouse.__

VGTV Version 2.0 -  converts RGB from VGA to card to PAL composite video __ Designed by Tomi Engdahl

VHF/UHF TV Modulator -  Simple oscillator that generates a frequency in the VHF or UHF region.  The oscillator is modulated with the video signal and the modulated carrier wave thus generated is fed into the TV set's aerial input via a cable.  Then all that remains to do is tune the TV to the correct frequency.  __

VHF-UHF Fan aerial -  Popular vintage TV aerial design from the 1950's provides superb results in the 21st century __ Contact blehack @ yahoo dot com

Video Activated Relay -  This simple circuit from the May 1996 Think Tank column of Popular Electronics activates a relay when it senses a composite video signal.  This allows you to use the tuner built into your VCR to turn on and off older TVs that are not equipped with a remote.  it can also be used to activate surround sound equipment, turn off the room lights, turn on video game consoles, etc.  For such a simple circuit, it is very versatile. __ Designed by Aaron Cake

Video Amplifier provides digital gain control -  08/17/00 EDN Design Ideas:  Programmable-gain amplifiers, many of them monolithic, are continuously improving, with lower noise and higher gain-bandwidth products.  But for high-end applications, multichip circuits are still necessary.  For example, the amplifier in Figure 1 originally served as the photomultiplier preamplifier in a Doppler system intended for eventual operation Design by Stephen Woodward, University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, NC

Video Amplifiers Make Low-Cost Fade -  05/12/94 EDN Design Ideas:  Bandwidths handle SVGA or Super Mac (up to 70-MHz]video signals without degradation, fading is voltage controlled.    Design by David Westerman, National Semiconductor, Santa Clara, CA

Video Audio Wireless Transmitter -  Television signals operates as two separate transmissions.  One for the video and the other for sound.  And just like our project, two different devices are going to be built.__

Video Clamps Under All Conditions -  04/23/98 EDN Design Ideas:  NOTE: File contains multiple circuits scroll to find this circuit.   Many video-circuit clamps operate well in the presence of a composite-video signal but cannot achieve a clamp level with signals other than composite video or in the absence of an input signal Design by Nicholas Gray and Terrance Smith, National Semiconductor, Santa Clara, CA

Video Clock Superimposer -  As a followup to my VCR Pong project, here is a gadget that is actually useful in the Real World!  it superimposes the time of day, in "HH MM SS" format, in the bottom right-hand corner of an existing video signal.  My friend Scott uses it with his home security system__

Video Difference Amplifier Brings Versatility to Low Voltage Applications -  DN343 Design Notes__ Linear Technology/Analog Devices

Video Digitizer-MkI -  This frame grabber design digitises pictures to very high quality in monochrome (8-bit black & white). Although designed for the European standard 625-line / 50Hz TV system, it should work with the American 525-line / 60Hz standard with minimal modification. __ Designed by W.A. Steer  PhD

Video Digitizer-MkII -  A "video-digitiser" (also known as a "frame grabber") captures television pictures from a TV set, camera, or video recorder, etc., and forwards them to a computer for display, storage, or general manipulation. This document describes a home-built digitiser which interfaces to an EPP (or bi-directional) parallel port on iBM PCs. __ Designed by W.A. Steer  PhD

Video emitter uses battery power -  08/30/01 EDN Design Ideas:  The block diagram in Figure 1 shows how to make a cable-free, direct-video system.  The system allows users to walk from booth to booth at an exhibition to interview people and to display the interviews in real time on three screens at key locations.  You can use the small and simple system each time you need to capture image and sound on the run Design by JM Terrade, Clermont-Ferrand, France

Video Enhancer & Y/C Separator  -  Sharpen the pictures from your video tapes with this great project.  it's just the shot when transferring your tapes to DVD'S and it converts composite video to S- Video as well, to ensure a high quality transfer.__ SiliconChip
