RD68HC908LBC : Li-ION Battery Charger Reference Design - This
reference design describes a Li-ion battery charger for one 3.6V Li-ion
battery cell by using the low cost 8-pin MC68HC908QT2 MCU. This reference
demo provides reader a reference on how to implement constant current,
constant voltage charging method for Li-ion battery and how to
in-circuit-programming M68HC908QT/QY MCU in system (app note added 3/05)
Simple Lithium-ion/ Lipo Battery Charger - This is a Lithium-ion charger for lipo
batteries. Circuit schematic shows configuration for charging single 3.7V lipo battery
but voltage can be set to charge several batteries in series. Lipo charger sets a
current limit with the LM317, and 1 resistor, and the voltage limit with the TL431,
and 2 resistors. 1K resistor is needed to let the TL431 decrease the LM317 current,
and to provide the necessary current to the TL431. The optional Schottky diode at the
output will prevent current flowing back from battery to the charger circuit when
power is disconnected, and reverse biasing of the LM317. Power supply with more than
3V above output voltage is required. ….(electronic schematic added 11/08)
Solar Powered Lithium Ion Battery Charger - The
circuit below feeds a controlled current and voltage to a 3.6v lithium ion battery.
The current is limited to 300ma and the voltage is limited to 4.2 volts. The circuit
uses a LTC1734 IC from Linear Technology. No diode is needed between the circuit and a
6 volt solar panel....…. [Hobby Corner Circuit by Dave Johnson]
Switching Current Pump Makes Better Charger - 01/16/97 EDN-Design Ideas Many
currently proposed battery-charger designs are simply voltage regulators redesigned to
be current sources. Unfortunately, this design approach is far from optimal because it
leads to unnecessary hardware redundancy and complexity. This type of charger also
raises a stability problem because of the additional active device in the feedback
loop....[Design Idea added 08/05] EDN migrating links. This link is not verified.
