Circuits Designed by Dave Johnson, P.E. :
  • 555 Timer Forms Simple PWM Motor Controller
Using a CMOS version of the 555 timer, this circuit can be used to control the speed of a motor by adjusting the duty cycle of the pulses sent to the motor.  (added 7/06)

BEAM Stepper:  74AC240-based circuit to drive small bipolar stepper motors (e.g.,  ones in floppy drives)   (added 11/05)

Bi-directional Motor Speed Regulator:  02/05/2004  EDN-Design Ideas  In low-noise analog circuits, a high-gain amplifier serves at  input to increase  SNR. The input signal level determines  input-stage gain; low-level signals require  highest gain. It is also standard practice in low-noise analog-signal processing to make  circuit's bandwidth as narrow as possible to pass only  useful input-signal spectrum. Designed by Andrew R. Morris  (added 10/05)

Bidirectional VF Control of Single and 3-Phase Induction Motors using the PIC16F72:  Microchip Application Note Published 27-Jan-05   (app note added 2/06)
