AVR Firmware Monitor Program -  (schematic / circuit added 6/07)
AVR Serial Programmer -  Note that the AVR910 programmer does not support all AVR processors, especially the newest chips. Be sure to check the documentation to see if it supports the version(s) of the processor you are interested in…....
A Precision Portable Voltage Reference -  It has been said that a man with one watch knows
Barker Code-Locked Loop Synchronous Demodulator -  A simple, low component count phase locked loop that locks onto and detects the amplitude of an incoming base band 7 bit Barker code using a switched resistor demodulator that is driven directly by a microcontroller's output pins…(circuit added 6/07)
Barry's Coilgun Mark I -  My first model, the Mark I, will launch small projectiles at a modest speed. In this (my first coilgun)…(project added 04/05/06)
Barry's Coilgun Mark II -  My second model, the Mark II, will launch small projectiles at a better speed with simpler construction. It will be much easier to build, because there are no timer/counter circuits. On the other hand. it will take more fiddling to tune it up. The main goal: minimum part count....(project added 04/05/06)
Barry's Coilgun Mark III -  My third model, the Mark III, wraps the coil in laminated iron. The iron lends its magnetism to the overall field, while the laminations help avoid eddy currents….(contruction project added 04/05/06)
Barry's Coilgun Mark IV -  This notebook describes how the various portions were designed, along with the choices and trade-offs. We avoid statements like "here is what I used" or "here is how it looks" because that would be of little help to the next coilgun designer. We specifically avoid "this part was chosen because it was handy" -- this coilgun is not constrained by a tight budget....(construction project added 04/05/06)
Battery operated FM rebroADCast transmitter  -  (schematic / circuit added 6/07)
Battery-powered tube amps -  A simple battery switch with undervoltage monitor ….(Circuit design added 07/07)
Bedwetting alarm -  A simple two tone water alarm that is light enough to be worn on the upper arm of a sleeper is described. It uses two LMC555 CMOS timer chips followed by a complimentary pair of emitter followers to drive an 8 ohm speaker. Power is supplied by a 9 volt transistor radio battery. An modification to produce a siren rather than two tone operation is discussed(circuit added 6/07)
Book PC MP3 Player -  A small computer running Linux with 12 volt power supply and wired remote control makes a great sound system for a car.   (electronic project added 2/06)
BookPC Car MP3 Player -  This is an earlier player using a conventional PC motherboard, so the power supply I designed is quite compatible.  (schematic / circuit added 08/08/08)
Bugdozer Autonomous Mini-Sumo Robot -  Based on an MC68HC908GP32 microcontroller, this pulse-width modulated 18-volt dc scoop-on-wheels saw combat in November 2000. Using two 38-kilohertz infrared sensors and 4-front/1-rear near-red phototransistors, Bugdozer tries to push opponents out of the ring while staying within the white borders herself.  (project added 10/06)
Build a 10 Amp 13.8 Volt Power Supply -  Just like other commercial units, this circuit uses the LM723 IC which gives us excellent voltage regulation. The circuit uses 3 pass transistors which must be heat sinked….(electronic design added 6/07)
Build a charge pump with ultralow quiescent current -  5-Aug-04 Issue of EDN  Portable battery-powered devices often spend most of their life in standby mode, in which the quiescent current of an internal boost converter continuously bleeds the battery. The quiescent current during standby can be larger than the actual load current. Though several inductor-based converters offer maximum quiescent current of less than 10 µA, designers usually prefer or require a regu.... [Design Idea by Greg Sutterlin, Maxim Integrated Products, Sunnyvale, CA]
Build a Direction-Sensing Bidirectional Repeater -  National Semiconductor Application Note....[App Note]
Build a DS1621 PC Thermometer -  Since I have no time to build a million pcTHERMs, I give you the plans and the software to build one on your own.  This project is easy enough for beginners, the only difficulties possibly arising from serial port hardware incompatibility from PC to PC. In the single-sensor version, you need only the sensor IC, a voltage regulator and and handful of diodes and resistors. Build it, and learn the secrets of IIC bus, how to implement IIC bus using only two resistors and a couple of zeners, how to drive it on a serial port using Visual Basic....(design added 6/05)
Build A HamComm Data Slicer -  Until recently many of the ham radio operating modes required specialist equipment that most often had to by build and was exclusive to the task. Enter the Personal Computer. The PC made life a little easier for the ham as it was now able to take over some of the jobs that bespoke hardware did. But it still wasn't quite there yet. The task of the PC was mainly to be a 'front end'(circuit / schematic added 6/07)
Build a hanging dipole for two metres -  Ideal for the portable operator….amateur radio construction projects…. [from Peter Parker's website]
Build a Magnetic Field Immunity Tester -  You can assemble a precompliance (or even full compliance) magnetic field immunity test system in a few hours using common laboratory instruments, a 100-W audio amplifier, some white PVC “Schedule-40” 3/4-in. water pipe, some wood, and a copper or aluminum sheet....(Circuit design added 08/08/08)
Build a negative-voltage power side switch -  14-Oct-04 Issue of EDN  When you need to quickly connect a negative power supply under logic control, the negative power-side switch in Figure 1 can help. Although originally intended for driving the gates of high-current MOSFETs, the MIC4451 can assume a different role. It provides complementary, low-on-resistance MOSFET switches to connect a system power-supply rail to a negative input voltage or to ground, enable.... [Design Idea by Michael English, Micrel Semiconductor, San Jose, CA]
Build a simple crystal set -  amateur radio construction projects…. [from Peter Parker's website]
