Automotive Multiplex Wiring -  National Semiconductor Application Notes first published05-Oct-1998 (app note added 4/02)
Automotive Physical Layer SAE J1708 & the DS36277 -  National Semiconductor Application Note  (app note added 2/06)
Automotive Relay Drivers using the ZVN4206AV: Protection Free Interfacing with Avalanche Rated MOSFETs -  Zetec Semiconductors  Applications Notes An alternative solution is provided to  usual large package Darlington effected relay driver. The ZVN4206AV has been designed, processed and rated to withstand significant energy within  breakdown region.  This allows  part to absorb back-emf and transient energy, reby allowing lower component count circuits.   (app note added 2/06)
Automotive Relays -  Find out more about automotive relays and their use in renewable applications…. [REUK - Renewable Energy UK website]
Automotive Speed Indicator  -  The speed of an automobile can be indicated by detecting the pulses generated by the ignition system and causing an LED to light. The circuit utilizes a quad NOR gate IC chip. Two of the gates are configured as a one shot multivibrator… [Randy Linscott, designer]
Automotive switching regulators get input transient voltage protection -  24-Jan-08 Issue of EDN  A simple scheme protects switching regulators against 50V voltage transients in automotive applications.... [Design Idea by Kevin Daugherty, National Semiconductor, Novi, MI]
Auxiliary Module -  (application / block diagram added 6/07)
Bar-mode LED-cluster sequencer -  Bar-mode LED-cluster sequencer.  Can drive up to 16 clusters  (circuit added 6/07)
Bicycle Back Safety Light -  this circuit has been designed to provide a clearly visible light, formed by 13 high efficiency flashing LEDs arranged in a pseudo-rotating order. Due to low voltage, low drain battery operation and small size, the device is suitable for mounting on bicycles as a back light, or to put on by jogger/walkers (schematic added 06/07/08)
Bike Device -  For starters, I mounted a 7 amp-hour gel-cell on the frame so that I wouldn't have to keep buying batteries for the headlight.  The headlight is a 12 watt Malibu light from Home Depot complete with a very good diffraction lens. The horn is a scavenged auto alarm from Walmart.  I just use the horn with…. [Luhan Monat - Mesa Arizona]
Bike Light Flasher (Randy Linscott) -  This circuit will flash an incandescent light that you can purchase from Radio Shack. Adjust the VR's for your flash requirements and make sure that the lamp you use is designed to put out high brightness. (electronic design added 08/08/08)
BMW R Series Motorcycle Regulator Schematic -  (Circuit design added 8/03)
Brakelight Flasher -  This is basically a flasher circuit modified to turn on and off a bulb instead of a LED. It uses a 555 timer IC working as an astable multivibrator. The flashing rate can be varied from very fast to a maximum of once in 1.5 sec by varying  preset VR1.  The ON time of  circuit is given by: TON= 0.69xC1x(R1 + VR1) second and  OFF time is: TOFF= 0.69xC1xVR1 second.... [Radioland.nt.au]
Brakelight hookup -  This circuit is NOT a pulser or flasher! What's so special about this circuit? Well, the first third-brake light I installed I had to pull a wire from the Third Brake Light all the way underneath the carpet to the brake-pedal-switch and I thought it would be easier to pluck the signal of both brakelights via the trunk. Bench-test your circuit first and apply power to the circuit,.... [Tony van Roon's circuit]
Breakdown Beacon -  This is a very simple automotive project you can keep in the boot of the car for those unfortunate occasions when you break down.  I hope this will not be very often but the chances of a breakdown are always greatest on a cold and windy night, just when you need some sort of warning to say you are laid-up at the side of the road.
