Circuits Designed by Dave Johnson, P.E. :
Sound Generator-Clicking -  Often in computer controlled systems, you would like to generate a “click” sound whenever a button is pressed.  This provides the user with audible feedback that the pushbutton press has been acknowledged.  The two circuits below generate such a sound.  A click sound is generated each time the logic input swings from a logic low to high condition . . . Speech Recognition using HM2007 -  The demonstration circuit operates in the HM2007's manual mode.  This mode uses a simple keypad and digital display to communicate with and program the HM2007 chip. __ Designed by © 2007-2014 Images SI, Inc

Speech Synthesizer Development System -  This system was designed to facilitate the development of a low cost speech module using a PIC  and some EEPROM memory.  This has already been done (see PIC Talker) using 64k of memory.  So far, this device is working with only 11k of memory by using techniques discussed below __ Designed by Luhan Monat-Mesa Arizona

Star Trek Red Alert siren -  This circuit simulates the "Red Alert" siren from the TV show Star Trek.  it uses two 555 timers in the circuit.  The 555 on the right is wired as an alarm tone generator and the second 555 timer on the left is wired as a 1.5 second non-symmetrical astable that generates a fast rising but slow falling saw tooth waveform.  This waveform is buffered by__

Starship Enterprise Door Sounder -  Here's a project especially for trekkies.  At the closure of remote switch contacts, it recreates that distinctive "ssshhhhhhh-thump" sound of the sliding doors opening or closing on the "Starship Enterprise".  Use it for generating sound effects for your own sci-fI movies or for hooking up to a bedroom or wardrobe door so you can pretend you're aboard the "Enterprise" in deep space, going where no man has gone before! __ SiliconChip

Steam Whistle Sound Generator -  This is the circuit diagram of steam whistle sound generator.  This circuit contains six square wave oscillators.  Square waves are composed of a huge variety of harmonics.  if six square waves with various frequencies are added collectively, the final result is going to be a signal which has a very large number of frequencies.  When you listen to the result you will find out that it happens to be very identical to a steam whistle sound.__

Synthesizer Basics -  Very nice intro to synthesizers.   __ Designed by Harry Lythall-SM0VPO

Talking Fish Hack -  These items were sold nationally several years ago.  The fish would sing, open its mouth, turn its head, and flap its tail.  After removing the back panel, all of the existing electronics were removed leaving only the 3 servo motors, speaker and photocell)  __ Designed by Luhan Monat - Mesa Arizona

Talking Frog Box -  This device 'listens' to a conversations and then interjects words and phrases at inappropriate times.   __ Designed by Luhan Monat-Mesa Arizona

Talking Morse Code Practice Computer -  Schematic Only __ Designed by Ken Staton

Talking Phone Dial Monitor -  Speaks the numbers that you dial as you dial your telephone.5 pages.  Not available as a kit of parts.  __ Golab.com

Talking Voltmeter -  Ever needed to measure a voltage without taking your eye off something? if so, then this is the project for you!  The Orton Talking Voltmeter takes a voltage measurement in the range 0-5 Volts and then reads it out to you to two decimal places (i.  e.  to 10mV resolution).  The design illustrates the use of the 10 bit ADC in the PIC , as well as pulse width modulation (PWM) for analogue output.  This project also illustrates how to squeeze every last word of program memory out of a PIC !  Sound samples consume almost all of the on-chip flash memory, and even that was after some pretty brutal trimming of the samples and a drop in resolution to seven bits.  Even after all that, the samples are about as brief as you can get without becoming unrecognisable __ Contact Karen's Microprocessor Projects

Timer for Geyser -  This timer circuit for geyser sounds an alarm after the set timing of 22 minutes when the water is heated up.  The circuit comprises a timer IC 555 wired as an astable...__ Electronics Projects for You

UM66 Music Generator -  This is the UM66 music generator circuit, of course this circuit uses UM66 as the main component to generate the signal of music / melody.  UM66 operates on a supply voltage of 3V.  The required 3V supply is given through a zener regulator.  The transistor Q1 and Q2 is a push pull amplifier to drive the loudspeaker, so the music signal from pin 1 IC UM66 can be heard loudly.  A class A amplifier can be used before push pull amplifier to minimize the noise and improve the output sound quality.  UM66 is a 3 pin IC package just looks like a BC547 transistor.__

Vocalize Telephone Number -  02/03/94 EDN Design Ideas:  The circuit in Fig 1 is a simple method of vocalizing the digit number of a telephone keypad, which, for someone visually impaired, provide as heLPFul voice confirmation.  A 75T202 dual-tone multifrequency (DTMF]receiver decodes the  Design by Shwang-Shi Bai,Chun-Shan Institute of Science and Technology, Lung-Tan, Taiwan

Voice Synthesizer -  This system was designed to facilitate the development of a low cost speech module using a PIC  and some EEPROM memory.  This has already been done (see PIC Talker) using 64k of memory.  So far, this device is working with only 11k of memory by using techniques discussed below __ Designed by Luhan Monat - Mesa Arizona

Voice-Controlled Home Automation System -  This is a project for a voice controlled home automation system to control appliances with your voice through an Android app.  An Arduino Mega board is used for controlling the relay...__ Electronics Projects for You

Why do we need Mixer? -  Article:  The mixing of a number of audio signals is such a common thing to do that one would expect the Net to be riddled with articles on how and why signals are mixed.  There are plenty of circuits that show how it can be done, but very little that explains the benefits or drawbacks of any particular scheme.   __ Designed by Rod Elliott  ESP
