Ultralow-cost, two-digit
counter features few components - 17-Aug-06 Issue of EDN Two
seven-segment displays and one microprocessor count from zero to 99 Issue
of EDN… [Design Idea by Noureddine Benabadji, University of Sciences and
Technology, Oran, Algeria]
Universal PWM Driver - PWM drivers are used in analysing,
testing, installing and powering all kinds of electronic and electrical
devices. We have published a few designs in Elektor over the years: here
we present a ‘de luxe’ version….must register on this site.... [Published
in Elecktor July/August 2010]
Use a CFL ballast to drive LEDs - 26-Apr-07 Issue of EDN A
CFL ballast can drive a string of as many as 64 LEDs..... [Design Idea by
Christian Rausch, Unterhaching, Germany]
VCOM Adjustment uses Any Logic Supply Voltage - 09/30/04 EDN-Design
Ideas.....All TFT (thin-film-transistor]LCD panels require at least one
appropriately tuned VCOM signal to provide a reference point for the
panel's backplane..... EDN is migrating links. This link is not verified.

Video Design Idea: LED senses and displays ambient light intensity -
5-Sep-07 Issue of EDN Explains how an LED can double as a photosensor and a
visual indicator of ambient-light intensity..... [Design Idea by Dhananjay V Gadre of
India's Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology]
Video Design Idea: Microcontroller drives 20 LEDs - 27-Sep-07 Issue of EDN
Details and demonstrates the use of "Charlieplexing" to drive 20 LEDs using six
available I/O pins on an 8-pin microcontroller..... [Design Idea by Dhananjay V Gadre
of the Netaji Subhas Institute of Technology in New Delhi, India]
Voltage to current converter drives white LEDs - 27-Jun-02 Issue of EDN
You sometimes need to drive a white LED from one 1.5V battery. Unfortunately, the
forward voltage of a white LED is 3 to 4V. So, you would need a dc/dc converter to
drive the LED from one battery. Using the simple circuit in Figure 1, you can drive
one white LED or two series-connected green LEDs, using only a few components.....

Voltage-to-current converter makes a flexible current reference - 18-Sep-03
Issue of EDN The voltage-to-current converter in Figure 1 can both source and
sink current. The circuit isflexible than some traditional current references that
require different topologies for current sourcing and sinking. Also, you can easily
adjust the value of the current reference by simply adjusting the circuit's input
voltage..... [Design Idea by Art Kay, Texas Instruments, Tucson, AZ]
