Laser Light Show -  A programmable laser light show that allows the user to specify the pattern displayed via three motor speeds and the length of time that this pattern is held. __ Designed by Matt Melynk and Josh Silbermann

LC IF Filter -  My Sony ST-S555ES tuner originally came with four 250-kHz ceramic IF filters. Wide-IF mode uses the first two filters and narrow cascades all four. I wanted a more selective narrow-IF passband. I tried substituting two 180-kHz filters for the narrows, but the response was still too broad. I tried 180s in all four filter slots, but the center frequencies of the filters I had on hand did not match well. In frustration I decided to use two well-matched 180s in wide and build some LC filters for narrow. __ Designed by Brian Beezley K6STI

LED used for near-IR light -  09/01/98 EDN-Design Ideas NOTE :  File has many circuits, scroll down.  You can successfully use LEDs as sources of near-infrared light.  However, when you need a source of light with precisely controlled power, a feedback loop is necessary to compensate for the temporal and thermal changes of the LED parameters.  Standard LED types come with neither these monitoring detectors nor an external monitoring photodiode to detect part of the emitted light and generate a feedback signal.  The situation calls for some mechanical fixture to mount the photodiode. Design by Lukasz Sliwczynski, Marcin Lipinski, Institute of Electronics, Krakow, Poland

Light/Dark Activated Motion Detector -  This circuit can sound an alarm when the shadow of a hand or arm moves over  two small photo diodes. . . Circuit by Dave Johnson P.E.-August, 2005

Long Range FM Transmitter -  This circuit is a circuit diagram fm transmitter.  This circuit is somewhat different from the previous fm transmitter circuit.  Transmitter circuit described here has the additional RF power amplifier stage, after the oscillator stage, to increase the power output of 200-250 milliwatts.  With a good matching 50-ohm ground plane antenna or multi-element yagi antenna, this transmitter can provide a good enough signal strength to a distance of about 2 kilometers.

Long Range FM Transmitter -  The power output of many transmitter circuits are very low because no power amplifier stages are incorporated.  The transmitter circuit described here has an extra RF power amplifier stage, after the oscillator stage, to raise the power output to 200-250 milliwatts.  With a good matching 50-ohm ground plane antenna or multi-element Yagi antenna, this transmitter can provide reasonably good signal strength up to a distance of about 2 kilometres.  The circuit built around transistor T1  (BF494) is a basic low-power variable-frequency VHF oscillator.  A varicap diode circuit is included to change the frequency of the transmitter and to provide frequency modulation by audio signals.  The output of the oscillator is about 50 milliwatts.  Transistor T2  (2N3866) forms a VHF-class A power amplifier.  It boosts the oscillator signal power four to five times.  Thus, 200-250 milliwatts of power is generated at the collector of transistor T2.

Long Range IR Transmitter -  This Long range Infrared transmitter can emit pulsed IR rays up to 10 meters.  This IR transmitter is ideal to use in Infrared receivers using Phototransistor or Photodiode as IR sensor.  The circuit is a simple Astable Multivibrator using IC NE555.  Resistors R1, R2 and capacitor C1 fix the output frequency to 1 kHz.  T1 is the __ Designed by D Mohankumar

Photo Electric Street Light -  This is basically a Schmitt Trigger circuit which receives input from a cadmium sulfide photo cell and controls a relay that can be used to switch off and on a street lamp at dawn and dusk.  I have built the circuit with a 120 ohm/12 volt relay and monitored performance using a lamp dimmer, but did not connect the relay to an outside light.  The photo cell should be shielded from the lamp to prevent feedback and is usually mounted above the light on top of a reflector and pointed upward at the sky so the lamp light does not strike the photo cell and switch off the lamp.  The photo cell is __ Designed by Bill Bowden
