Tiny Versatile Buck Regulators Operate from 3.6V to 36V Input - DN367
Design Notes (Linear Technology) (app note added 1/06) |
Twin T power oscillators work as DC-biased ac sources -
9-Apr-09 Issue of EDN Using a frequency-selective twin-T network and the LT3080
linear regulator, you can achieve a low-distortion twin-T oscillator with power-driving
capability.... [Design Idea by Tiger Zhou and Robert Dobkin, Linear Technology, Milpitas,
CA] |

Two AA cells power step-down regulator - 01/07/99
Issue of EDN DC/DC conversion is particularly challenging when both the input and
output voltages are low. Step-up ICs that operate with inputs lower than 1V are available,
but step-down ICs that accept input voltages....Page includes several designs.

Use an LM317 as 0 to 3V adjustable regulator - 2-Oct-08 Issue of EDN LM317
acts as an adjustable regulator.... [Design Idea by Vladimir Rentyuk, Modul-98 Ltd,
Zaporozhye, Ukraine] |
Use two phases to cut current and improve EMI 11/12/09 EDN-Design Ideas....In
dc/dc-converter applications in which the input voltage may be lower or higher than the
output voltage, you can use either a flyback converter or a SEPIC
(single-ended-primary-inductor converter). SEPICs offer lower input-current ripple and
higher efficiency than do flyback designs. Both converters suffer from relatively high
output-current ripple, especially at high load currents and low input voltages. As
output-current ripple increases, so does the circuit's output-filter-capacitance
requirement, which increases size and cost.... [Design Idea by Goran Perica, Linear
Technology, Milpitas, CA] |
Variable Voltage Source - The high current regulator below uses an additional
winding or a separate transformer to supply power for the LM317 regulator so that the pass
transistors can operate closer to saturation and improve efficiency. For good efficiency
the voltage at the collectors of the two parallel 2N3055 pass transistors should be close
to the output voltage....(added 4/05) |
Video Design Idea: Buck regulator controls white LED with optical feedback -
25-Oct-07 Issue of EDN By using optical feedback, you can stabilize the output level
of a high-intensity LED.... [Design Idea by Dhananjay V Gadre, Netaji Subhas Institute of
Technology, New Delhi, India] |
